Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

"I kissed her again before she could say anything else, backing into the room with her, a tangle of arms in the moonlight. Her fingers hooked into the back of my jeans, thumbs brushing my hip bones, pulling my even closer to her."

Grace has spend years watching the wolves in the woods outside her house. There is always a wolf that catches her eye, the yellow-eyed wolf, her wolf. One of her friends in her high school even seems to share her 'obsession' with the wolves in the dark forest, to a point. Everything seems good for Grace and her wolf watching, until a local student, Jack, dies from an apparent wolf attack. The town is mad, and they are out for blood, wolf blood. Frantically worried about her wolf, Grace races to stop a wolf hunt in the forest behind her home. Scared and defeated, she goes home, dreading she won't see her wolf again. Enter Sam, a mysterious dark haired boy that seems to have the same yellow eyes of Grace's constant thoughts and dreams; and seems to touch something deep within Grace. Though they found in each other in odd circumstances; they navigate together though the treacherously cool fall and into the mystery of Jack's death, and what it all means for the wolves in the Minnesota forest.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story was fast paced, and was written beautifully. The language flowed and captured me; and soon enough, it was nearly the middle of the night. I read this book in 2 days, and enjoyed every page of it. I felt the relationship between Grace and Sam to be true and passionate. They are a well matched couple, and I can't wait for the release of Linger.  Though this all seems like a love story, there is so much more in store for readers in the expanse of the novel. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Stiefvater and I believe that I will be reading her other books.
